Democratic 2020 presidential candidate Julián Castro says reports of Donald Trump wanting to build a snake-filled moat at the border and suggesting that migrants be shot in the legs are signs of “a deranged mind.” Castro recently led a group of asylum seekers to a U.S. port of entry at the southern border to challenge the Trump administration’s “remain in Mexico” policy, which he says is putting people in danger, including those with disabilities or who are members of the LGBTQ community. He says there is a growing consensus among both lawmakers and voters that Trump is unfit for office and must be impeached.
