Narges Bajoghli, professor of Middle East studies at Johns Hopkins University, weighs in on the “maximum pressure” economic and military provocations by the U.S. that have driven Iran to this latest act of retaliation. “Eventually, these tit-for-tats will lead to very devastating military confrontation in the Middle East,” Bajoghli warns. “All sides need to begin to de-escalate.”
