I didn’t really know where else to post this and I’m actually SO irritated by it. I’ve been trying to be more active in the group so I figured at least it would be interesting to see other people’s viewpoints.
So my son is 10. He will be 11 in April. He’s in 5th grade. They had a drug awareness assembly today in school. No big deal. I wasn’t informed of it in folder or anything, but oh well. So my son comes home and tells me all about this assembly and at first I’m all for it until he gets to the marijuana part. Now, I feel I should tell you, I do not smoke or participate in any kind of drug use whatsoever, so I’ve never though about it in depth on how I’d talk to my son about it. But he tells me the speaker told a group of 10-11 year olds that marijuana is the most dangerous drug on earth and it will kill you.
I am ALL FOR my son learning about the dangers of drugs and what not, but if you’re going to tell them the dangers of marijuana use, why not also tell them the benefits of it as well?
Anywho, today I am shaming a speaker who told a group of 5th graders that marijuana will kill you.
If you made it this far, thank you for reading and sorry if I’m batshit crazy.
Do I have a right to be upset about this?
